The Old Bank Whisky Shop – The Old Bank in Forres has stood proudly at the centre of the community for generations. Today, it enters an exciting new era as the home of Murray McDavid whiskies. A short drive brings you to the historic Dallas Dhu Distillery, currently operating as a visitor centre and museum. Plans are in motion to reignite its stills and begin production once again, making this an exciting time to experience a distillery with both heritage and a promising future.

Our 17 bedrooms at Dallas Dhu House are generous in size and full of character, each reflecting the heritage and grandeur of this Victorian Baronial mansion. Thoughtfully maintained and individually styled, every room offers its own sense of charm, with tall ceilings, deep bay windows and period features that honour the history of the house while ensuring a comfortable and welcoming stay.
History of the House
Dallas Dhu House was built in 1893 for Colonel John Woodcock, who inherited the estate from his uncle, John Little of Newbold Pacey in Warwickshire. The house was designed by the distinguished architect Alexander Ross and later altered by Peter Fulton around 1900. Its original conservatory was created by Mackenzie and Moncur, the premier glasshouse designers of their day.
Garden & Grounds
The gardens at Dallas Dhu House extend to approximately 6.4 acres. A sweeping lawn stretches to the south, while to the north a substantial and beautifully maintained walled garden features fruit and vegetable beds, two greenhouses and peaceful seating areas tucked among the planting. The historic Mackenzie and Moncur conservatory is filled with lush greenery and inviting places to sit.
